Explore an Enchanted Forest
When is the last time you went walking through a beautiful forest? Think of the sounds you heard--birds singing, leaves crunching under your feet, the wind blowing. Each tree is a living, breathing being that is helping us in many different ways. Trees are an important part of planet Earth, providing us with clean air, stable shelter, and many of the supplies we need to live and do our work.

Did You Know?

  • Trees clean the air that we breath
  • Trees help cool the environment (or warm it, in cold weather)
  • The roots of trees strengthen the surface of the earth and keep soil from washing away
  • Trees provide us with materials for our houses, fuel, foods, and even some medicines

What You Can Do to Love Forests

  • Take a walk in the forest and enjoy the trip!
  • Pick up paper, wrappers, bottles, and cans that you find close to trees.
  • Help your mom or dad clear out underbrush around trees so they can get the moisture and nourishment they need.
  • Help spread mulch around trees to protect their roots, help them preserve water, and keep bugs away.
  • Sit under one and lean up against it (trees love that)
  • Read a book outside under a tree. You'll be glad you did!
